Unison and Transpower demonstrated collaboration and innovation to successfully restore power to the Hawke’s Bay network, following Cyclone Gabrielle.
Recognising the dependency on electricity to enable the broader disaster response, power restoration to critical sites and urban areas was prioritised. Teams worked together to deploy creative solutions to utilise available assets in ways not been before in Aotearoa. Most of urban Napier and Hawke’s Bay had power restored by the end of the first week.
